Manalapan author, Carmen Rubin, has two wonderful children's books
Author, singer and speaker, Carmen Rubin has written two
wonderful children’s books. The first book, Ashti Meets Birdman Al, is about a little girl and her mother meeting an old jazz musician who has the blues because a school’s music program is in jeopardy. He shares his love of jazz music with them. Ashti is inspired to help Birdman Al
keep the music alive so she creates a fundraising event to earn money for the music programs. The event is a memorable evening filled with jazz. Children learn the names of jazz greats, learn about the instruments, and hopefully feel connected to the jazz genre.
Ashti returns in the second book, The Gifted Guitar. Her grandma tells her a story about a guitar that travels the world to bring music to those in need. With a whoosh, whoosh, whirl, whirl the guitar takes flight with the wind to bring about wonderful changes for those touched by the beautiful melodies. The guitar’s gift makes the world a brighter place. The book’s message is that the power of music transforms our lives.
In both books be sure to look for peppermint candies. Carmen Rubin’s grandfather came up with the Peppermint Candy Club to encourage children to share love with one another.
