Manalapan-Englishtown Academically Talented Students Read to Barnes & Noble Customers

What do you like to do on a Saturday morning? Well if you were one of the 25 students from Manalapan Englishtown Regional School District’s Academically Talented Program you would say, “Participate in Reading Adventures!” That is right, 25 third, fourth and fifth grade students from Taylor Mills School and Lafayette Mills School were on hand to read to customers, created book marks with them, and share their love of reading.

The Freehold Barnes and Noble were gracious hosts to the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children’s Annual BookFair Event. Mrs. Linda Waldron, Supervisor of the AT Program for MERS, was joined by Ms. Kristin Keane, Mrs. Jacqueline Convey and Mrs. Stacy Johnson all AT teachers in the district.

The highlight of the morning was when the winners of NJAGC’s Poetry Contest shared their winning poems on stage with the crowd. In attendance to read their winning poems were: Sahil Nadkarni of Plainsboro, Alyssa Simpers of Freehold, Mark Tiganila of West Windsor, Manya Sood of East Plainsboro, Meghana Padmanabhan of Plainsboro, Valentina Zapata of Freehold, Julie Keelan of Freehold, and Manalapan’s own Ayush Upadhyay from Mrs. Convey’s 4th grade AT class.
