Box Truck Catches Fire on Millhurst Road

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Manalapan police.

A box truck caught fire on Millhurst Road near the intersection of Woodward Road Wednesday evening.

Manalapan Fire Company #1 was dispatched to the scene where they immediately hooked up a hose to the fire hydrant to douse the working fire. Foam was also utilized in extinguishing the fire. The road was previously closed off by Manalapan police prior to the fire department’s arrival; Englishtown Fire Department also assisted.

The box truck contained household items which were being delivered to a Monroe resident, according to Manalapan police. The owner of the items, a 25-year-old Monroe woman, told police that the truck was full of appliances, clothes, and kitchen items. Firemen reported that furniture and boxes were also located in the truck.

Once the fire was brought under control, firemen began emptying the contents of the truck searching for hot spots. After the fire was completely put out, the incident turned over to the Manalapan Police Department. The fire is currently under investigation.

The Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad also responded to the scene, but there were no injuries.
