UPDATE: Forklift Victim is Not Employee of Landscaping Business

John Fratianni, of Barnegat, was knocked down and run over by a loaded forklift in the working yard of Pantano Nursery and Landscaping in Manalapan Township.

 

UPDATE, 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 21: The victim of the forklift accident has been identified as John Fratianni of Barnegat Township, according to Capt. Chris Marsala of the Manalapan Police Department. Fratianni is not an employee of Pantano Landscaping, where the incident occurred, Marsala said. He is currently still hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center for his injuries, where he was transported yesterday via medevac by the New Jersey State Police.

A resident of Barnegat was the victim of an industrial accident today, according to police. Early this afternoon Manalapan police responded to a call about a person who was knocked down and run over by a forklift at Pantano Nursery and Landscaping, located at 143 Freehold Road in Manalapan Township.

According to a police report, the victim, a 44-year-old male, was struck by a loaded forklift and subsequently run over by it while it was operating in the yard. Initial breaking news alerts reported a possible head injury and crushed legs and a medevac was called to land at the soccer fields at the Manalapan Recreation Center.

Manalapan Fire Company #1, Gordons Corner Fire Company, Englishtown-Manalapan Volunteer First Aid Squad and MONOC paramedics responded to the scene and aided the victim.

He was transported by New Jersey State Police medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Freehold Township Independent Fire Company, Station 16-1 was dispatched to the landing zone along with EMS.

According to police, the extent of the victim's injuries are unknown presently, and his name is being witheld from the public until all of the victim's family is notified.

This is an ongoing investigation and the story will be updated as additional information becomes available.
