Manalapan Man Indicted on Theft and Forgery Charges
The resident of Timber Lane allegedly stole cash from a victim and signed that victim's names to credit card receipts last summer.
Mario Chierchia of Manalapan Township was indicted by the Grand Jury of Monmouth County on charges of forgery and theft.
Chierchia, 41, committed the crime of theft by taking cash from an individual valued at over $500 sometime between June 1, 2011 and June 13, 2011, according to the indictment released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
During the same time period within Manalapan, Marlboro, Old Bridge, Sayreville or Englishtown, Chierchia also committed the crime of forgery by signing credit card receipts with the name of the individual he had allegedly stolen cash from, without the knowledge of that individual.
Regardless of the charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and state law.
