UPDATE: Manalapan Streets Without Power, 1,700 in the Dark

If your street is not on the list please call the township at 732-446-3200.

UPDATE, as of 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5:

The municipal government would like to thank all residents for contacting the Township and letting them know what streets are without power. The Township has relayed all of this information to JCP&L.

Presently, JCP&L has reported that 1,700 Manalapan residents still do not have power. However, over the last day more than 3,000 Township residents have had their power restored.

"The Township will not stop working until every household in Manalapan has electricity once again," the municipal government reported in an e-mail to residents earlier today.

The 24-hour storm question telephone line remains open at 732-446-3200. If you do not get an answer, that means that all staff members are currently on the line; simply call back until someone answers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manalapan Township is attempting to maintain a list of streets in the Township that still do not have electricity in order to inform JCP&L of the outages, as well as, gather updates on the status of those streets once power is restored.

If you still do not have power and your street is NOT listed below, please call (732) 446-3200 and let Manalapan Township know that your power is not restored. You can also email storm@mtnj.org with this information.

I have added McCaffery Road to the list, but please note - you MUST contact Town Hall in order to let them relay the news to JCP&L about the lack of power. Thank you.

McCaffery Road still has no power. JCPL stopped at my house 144, and told me they are assessing our street, and we have primary wires down...but yet they don't seem to fix it...3rd time this week they have assessed our street, and yet we still have NO POWER, and now not even on this list to acknowledge that we exist. This is getting really old....ALL ELECTRIC houses, with well water and septic should take priority over others in the township that can shower, go to the bathroom and even cook on their gas powered equipment. PLEASE SEND US THE NEEDED POWER

DAY 9 -- NO PROGRESS ON MCCAFFERY ROAD. We have NO WATER. Today, we finally saw men surveying and asked them what was going on. They told us they are instructed to report the damage back to JCP&L so as not waste linemens' time. Why aren't linemen here already?? Why don't they have a report on the damage already? They surely could have gotten that much done by day 9. Further, they didn't deny that we probably will NOT have anything fixed before the noreaster. Everyone I know in this town is up and running. This is disgraceful. We have no WATER or POWER HERE and Manalapan is up and running. HELLO?????!!!!!

To my McCaffery neighbors. Mayor just replied to my email: " I am aware and have been in touch with our area manager. I am waiting to hear why you don't have power. Rest assured that I have not stopped being a pain in their sides and won't until all get power. "

McCaffery Road has a number of elderly people living there who are not in good shape physically. This is very, very difficult for them.

Tues, 11/6 1:35PM: JCP&L rep confirmed a work order for our road has been entered (I would hope so, by day 9) but she has no idea when the pole repairs will begin and that she shows an estimated date of Nov 7th. For those of us on McCaffery, we know that unless they're out there all afternoon and night tonight, this date is totally worthless.

The situation on McCaffery Road is totally insane. There never has been municipal water or gas supply to this area and residents require electricity for their wells and oil furnaces. It has, also, always been one of the last streets to have electric power restored as well as one of the last streets to have snow plowed, etc. Due to these circumstances, not only are the residents suffering physically and mentally, but relative home values have plunged and should be immediately adjusted by Manalapan Township in their current tax evaluations.

Totally agree. It is OBVIOUS we're on the PAY NO MIND list by this township despite their claim they are working hard for us. How you can restore 90% of the town and still send no workers to our road? Who is making these street decisions? JCP&L? IF so, what is the reasoning behind this, because it's disgraceful. Susan Cohen sent me an email this morning that said, "If you do not receive power this evening it may not be on till Friday depending on the severity of the upcoming storm." There were ZERO crews on our road as of 8AM when I left. -Leigh Ann Kehley @ 43

McCaffery out again...we lost our internet this time for a little while as well...but optimum fixed it quickly...too bad jcpl can't. This time a tree came down across the road (which the township moved), but of course it hit the pole as it came down near 134...knocking out the whole street again. You would think jcpl would invest in putting our wires underground, it is obvious we are our own grid based upon last week seeing all around us with power. It has to be more cost effective in the long run.
