Manalapan Wawa Grand Opening to Salute Local Heroes

500 hoagies will be donated to relief teams through the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties

Manalapan's new Super Wawa, located at the intersection of Woodward Road and Route 33, is holding their grand opening on Friday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. The opening will focus on supporting the community and the continuing Sandy rebuilding efforts at the Jersey Shore.

Wawa Director of Store Operations, Jim Shortall, will lead the event alongside Assemblyman Rob Clifton of the New Jersey General Assembly.

Important local community members, emergency responders, and nearby food banks will be acknowledged by Wawa executives, store associates, and Wawa's mascot Wally Goose for their hard work in New Jersey recovery efforts post-Sandy.

Wawa is formalizing their committment to aiding local relief efforts by donating $2,500 to the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County. A truckload of hoagies will also be sent to the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County which will be distributed to "U Hungry Too", their largest relief effort partner. "U Hungry Too" distributes about 600 meals every day in the Bayshore area, which includes Union Beach and Keyport.

“Wawa is committed to continuing to support the relief efforts in our New Jersey communities”  Shortall said. “We are pleased to use our grand opening event as one way of showing our strength and commitment to our friends and neighbors here in New Jersey.”

The Manalapan Police Department and Manalapan Fire Company #1 will also be recognized for their service to the community. The first responders will also take part in a hoagie building contest to benefit the charity of their choice.

Finally, the ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place at the end of the event opening up the location. This new location, the 240th in New Jersey, features Wawa’s new store design prototype, including 5,025 square feet of retail space and additional gasoline facility, as well as new in-store graphics, colors, restroom design, and merchandising features.

A welcome addition to the community. Their $3.39 / gallon gas price cash or credit is good news, with a 1 % rewards cards that's $3.46 well below cash prices on the Route 33 corridor prices. Cheapest I've seen is $3.39/gallon cash on 130 south in the Windsors. They have 2 exits. You have to go down on Woodward to turn right to get onto Route 33 thereby avoiding intersection congestion.

Manalapan Township Fire Company 1

Today, WAWA opened there newest location in Manalapan, on Woodward Rd & Rt 33. The WAWA corporation kindly invited our Fire Department along with the Police Dept, First Aid Squad, & Township officials. WAWA strongly reconized and thanked all Emergency personnel in the township. WAWA made and donated 500 Sandwiches to the local Monmouth county Food Bank. Also WAWA donated $1000.00 to a charity of this departments choice. So.. Manalapan Twp Fire Co #1, chose the, Union Beach Disaster Relief Fund. As many of you know, MTFC went to Union Beach Fire Dept shortly after the storm to give assistance to their emergency services and give thoes guys a break for a while. We would like to thank WAWA for their generous donation to a very important charity. Welcome to the south side of town...
