Obituary: Ann 'Gerry' Hunt, 80

Hunt lived in Manalapan for 27 years and taught English at Manalapan High School.

 

Ann "Gerry" Hunt, 80, died Sunday September 16, 2012 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born and raised in Chelmsford, England in county of Essex, she immigrated to the United States in 1964, living in Staten Island for a few years before residing in Manalapan from 1967 until moving to Manchester in 1994.

She was employed as a Geology teacher at the Blessed John Payne School in Chelmsford, before working as an Exchange Teacher in Tottenville High School where she met her husband, and later taught English at Manalapan High School until retirement in 1992.

A communicant of St. John's Church, Lakehurst she was a member St. Vincent De Paul Society, and the Ocean County Caregiver Coalition. She enjoyed bird watching, traveling to Europe and was an enthusiast of English literature. She was loved dearly by all who knew her and will be profoundly missed.

Surviving is her husband of 47 years, John C Hunt; son James and wife Donna of Point Pleasant; daughter Cecilia and husband Alex Keklak of Bayville; brother Michael O'Donovan of Sturminster-Newton in Dorset County, England; and sister Rosaleen Haddow of London England, and four grandchildren whom she loved very much; Catherine & Daniel Hunt, and Erica & Emma Keklak.

Visitation is Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd. Funeral Liturgy is Wednesday 10 Am at St John's Church, Lakehurst with private cremation.
