Main Street in Tennent is a damned mess. I've lived there for almost forty years, it's become a nightmare for everyone who lives on the street and we're all getting pretty sick of it. The speed limit is 40 west of the tracks and 35 east of the tracks, people are usually topping 50+ most of the time, that is when the road isn't at a complete standstill because of the rampant over-development of the area. There are no sidewalks, few street lights and, considering that most drivers today are paying more attention to their cell phones, it's a wonder that people aren't run down daily. The township needs to do something before someone is killed. I'm afraid to cut my lawn by the street when the traffic is moving, because no one cares about how fast their going or what's going on around them.
It's a residential area, the speed limit should be 25 and it should be enforced constantly. Maybe two or three times a month I see someone pulled over for speeding. I'd love to hear a reply from the township committee or the Manalapan Police about this.

I'm going to look into who exactly has jurisdiction over the speed limit on Main Street, the township or the County, since it is a county road and I am going to start the process of getting the speed limit reduced to 25 mph. If anyone living on Main Street wants to be involved, just let me know.
