Police Reporting Two Physical Assaults in Manalapan

An 18-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were both attacked last week in two separate incidents.

A Manalapan resident was assaulted and robbed last week in Bucks Head Park, according to police.

Three unknown white men, between the ages of 17 and 20, approached an 18-year-old Manalapan man while he was sitting on a bench in the park on July 18 at around 11:30 a.m. The suspects reportedly punched the man in the face and removed $20 from his wallet before fleeing the scene.

According to Manalapan Police Capt. Mike Fountain, the victim did not know any of the assailants and they did not say anything to the man before the physical altercation and robbery.

Police responded to the victim's residence where the incident was reported. He was treated for minor injuries. Police scoured the surrounding area for suspects but none were found. This investigation will be continued under Det. Leonard Maltese.

Another person was assaulted in Manalapan last week, police said. On July 17, a 20-year-old Monroe woman was reportedly attacked by three women on Brookview Ln. in Manalapan at around 8:30 p.m.

In this case, the victim did know alleged assailants and the attack was prompted during a verbal altercation between two of the women, Fountain said. The suspects are between the ages of 18 and 20 and are all Manalapan residents.

The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault and she plans on signing criminal complaints, according to police. Ptl. Edward Hedden has been assigned to this case.
