The Manalapan Police Department is reporting several thefts in the area within the past few weeks.

Some of the thefts involve home or business invasion:

• A Manalapan man reported that his trailer had been burglarized on Saturday, Feb. 4, police said. Upon early investigation, police discovered that the burglars gained entry to the trailer via a cut pad lock which was on the rear door of the trailer. According to police, numerous tools were stolen. This theft is currently under investigation.
• A Manalapan woman's home, located on Taylors Mills Road, was reported to be burgled on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 3. According to the police's initial investigation, the burglar was able to get inside of the home through a bathroom window. Several items were reported missing. This theft is currently under investigation.
• The owner of Cranked Gym told police that about $2,750 worth of gym equipment was stolen from his gym at some point during the night of Jan. 29. Investigation is pending. 
• A 42-year-old Manalapan man who lives on Coventry Court reported missing money, identification and credit cards to the police on Jan. 30, as his money clip was removed from his home about a week earlier, police said. Approximately $180 in cash was stolen.

Other misappropriations in Manalapan involve identity theft:

• A 36-year-old Holmdel man told Manalapan police on Friday, Feb. 3 that someone had used his Monmouth County Library card to take out 60 DVD movies from the library in November 2011 and has yet to return them. This theft is currently under investigation.
• A credit card fraud incident was reported to police on Jan. 29. Police say that a 60-year-old Manalapan man said that someone retained control of his credit card and charged computer equipment, valued in excess of $1,400, to his account. All charges have been frozen due to suspicious activity and this case is pending an investigation.
• A Manalapan woman told police on Feb. 2 that someone had opened an AT&T wireless account in her name, police said. This identity theft is currently under investigation by the police department.  

The Manalapan Township Police Department want to urge citizens to occasionally check all of their accounts and to be sure to shred all documents with personal account information on them before discarding them to help prevent identity theft.
