UPDATE: Structure Fire at McCaffery Road Home Began from Dryer
No injuries or deaths reported at the residential fire.
UPDATE, 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20: Manalapan Police have confirmed that the fire originally began as a dryer fire. According to police, a resident of the home called at 11:17 a.m. to report a dryer fire. At 11:21 a.m. the resident called the police back to inform them that the fire had spread and turned into a working structure fire.
Fire units and patrols responded, but the whole house was eventually effected by the fire. The Monmouth County Fire Marshall, along with Detective Charles Alaimo, are undergoing further investigation.
Englishtown Fire Department Chief Pete Hall said that he was one of the first on the scene and quickly responded to the fire with one engine and a utility. Manalapan Fire Company #1 brought a ladder truck, engine, and tanker.
Heavy smoke was seen billowing from the home as the trucks arrived which usually indicates that the fire is well underway, according to Hall, who also confirmed that the flames originated from the laundry room.
