Potential For an Autumn Storm Coming Our Way...

Please read an important message from the National Weather Service Mt. Holly Forecast Office.

We are over 5 days out, so there is some uncertainty, but we ask you monitor this storm.

"There is the potential for a very powerful and dangerous autumn storm to affect our region early next week. This storm will be associated with what is currently Tropical Storm Sandy. There is a growing threat of strong winds, very heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and inland flooding to affect our region early next week."

• Potential continues for a very dangerous autumn storm system to affect the region early next week.
• This storm will be associated with what is currently Hurricane Sandy. This storm, if it moves toward us, will bring multiple threats to the region:
• Strong damaging wind gusts
• Extremely heavy rainfall
• Major flooding along streams and rivers
• Major coastal flooding (full moon occurs on October 29)
The storm center could track closer to the coast or further out to sea, but opportunities for it to do so are diminishing.
•The takeaway message is that our region is increasingly likely to be close to the path of a very dangerous storm.
