DESCRIPTION:Macculloch Hall  Historical Museum presents a Civil War Lectu
 re Series in conjunction with the exhibit&nbsp\;&ldquo\;Gone for a Soldi
 er:&rdquo\; Jerseymen in the Civil War\n&nbsp\;\nOn Wednesday April 25th
  Macculloch Hall Historical  Museum is pleased to welcome speaker John Z
 inn in conjunction with the museum&rsquo\;s current exhibit &ldquo\;Gone
  for a Soldier:&rdquo\; Jerseymen in the Civil War. &nbsp\;Presented in 
 collaboration with the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee\,
  this new exhibit brings together for the first time about two hundred o
 bjects from the Civil War from nearly thirty museums\, historical societ
 ies\, and private collections. Each month through June the Museum is pre
 senting a lecture relating to the exhibit. All lectures start at 7:00pm 
 with tickets available from 6:30pm and are held at Cincinnati Masonic Lo
 dge No. 3\, 39 Maple Avenue (one block from the Museum).&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;
 \nBaseball season is upon us and Mr. Zinn joins us to speak about &ldquo
 \;New Jersey Base ball during the Civil War Era\, 1855-1870&rdquo\;. Bas
 e ball\, as it was written at the time\, came to New Jersey in the 1850&
 rsquo\;s and grew rapidly throughout the Civil War era. This talk descri
 bes the game&rsquo\;s early beginnings in New Jersey\, prominent teams a
 nd players. The impact of the war on the game&rsquo\;s development in Ne
 w Jersey and how New Jersey soldiers took the new game with them to the 
 front will also be discussed.\n&nbsp\;\nJohn Zinn is an independent hist
 orian with special interest in the Civil War era and baseball history.&n
 bsp\; He is the chair of the New Jersey Civil War 150th Anniversary Comm
 ittee and the chairman of the board of the New Jersey Historical Society
 .&nbsp\; John holds BA and MBA degrees from Rutgers  University.&nbsp\; 
 He is a Vietnam veteran.&nbsp\; John is the author of "The Mutinous Regi
 ment: The Thirty-third New Jersey in the Civil War\,"&nbsp\;which vividl
 y describes the experiences of the soldiers in a regiment born in the mi
 dst of the draft riots of 1863. He also wrote "The Major League Pennant 
 Races of 1916: "The Most Maddening Baseball Melee in History\," (with Pa
 ul Zinn)\, and is the editor of a forthcoming book on Ebbets Field in Br
 ooklyn (also with Paul Zinn).&nbsp\; He has contributed numerous article
 s to anthologies on New Jersey and the Civil War and 19th century baseba
 ll. Mr. Zinn will be available to sell and sign &ldquo\;The Mutinous Reg
 iment" and "New Jersey's Civil War Odyssey"&nbsp\;which includes an essa
 y on base ball.\n&nbsp\;\nAll lectures start at 7pm with tickets availab
 le from 6:30pm and are held at the Cincinnati Masonic Lodge No. 3\, 39 M
 aple Avenue (one block from the museum). Tickets for the lectures are Ad
 ults $8\, Seniors $6\, Students (over 12 years) $6. Members of the Museu
 m will receive a $2 discount for these special programs. Memberships can

 ers to the museum exhibit will receive a $2 discount to the lectures wit

 morating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War\, a volunteer o
 rganization working for increased awareness and recognition of New Jerse
 y&rsquo\;s important role in the Civil war\, has been recognized by the 
 New Jersey Governor and both houses of the New Jersey legislature. Maccu
 lloch  Hall Historical  Museum preserves the history of the Macculloch-M
 iller families\, the Morris area community\, and the legacy of its found
 er W. Parsons Todd through its historic site\, collections\, exhibits\,
