Donate Extra Halloween Candy to Dentist

Here is a look at what is going on in Manalapan and Englisthwo today.

1. Weather: Today will be breezy and rainy with a high temperature around 72. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with the low temperature dropping to about 49. 

2. Donate Halloween Candy: Bring your children and their unopened Halloween Candy to the Monroe Pediatric Dentistry office, located at 18 Centre Drive Suite 204 Monroe Township, and receive $1 per donated pound, for up to 5 pounds of candy. Children must be accompanied by an adult and each child will receive a light up toothbrush and other giveaways from local businesses in exchange for the candy donation. The candy will be sent to Operation Shoebox New Jersey, an all-volunteer grass roots organization dedicated to collecting donated supplies and shipping care packages to US troops based in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other Middle East countries. Candy will be collected between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. today. 

3. MRC-CERT Needs Volunteers: Sidney Alweis, the spokesperson for the Medical Reserve Corps-Community Emergency Response Team, posted an announcement on Manalapan Patch stating that the team is in need of volunteers. CPR, triage, fire prevention, search and rescue are just part of our instruction and joining the group is free, Alweis said. Both medical and non-medical community minded people are needed.
