Barnabas Health Pharmacist Named Fellow of ASHP

Robert Adamson, PharmD, Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Barnabas Health, was recently named Fellow of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and appointed Chair of the organization’s 2014 Nominations Committee.

ASHP is the nation’s largest pharmacist professional organization whose 40,000 members are working to improve medication use and enhance patient safety. Members develop guidelines, best practices and professional policies that help pharmacists improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of medication-related processes and patient care. Members such as Dr. Adamson, who have achieved Fellowship status, have demonstrated sustained commitment and contributions to excellence in practice for at least 10 years, contributed to the total body of knowledge in the field, demonstrated active involvement in leadership in ASHP and other professional organizations, and are involved in educating other pharmacists.

An active member of ASHP for over 20 years, Dr. Adamson is a national leader in the standardization of medical-use policy for all medications dispensed at hospitals and served as Chair of ASHP’s Public Policy Committee in 2009. “The US legislative bodies look to ASHP to craft policy for medication-related issues and legislation,” said Dr. Adamson. “Our membership continues to be proactive in improving and standardizing clinical pharmacy practices.”
