Forum To Focus on Roles Women Have Played During Military Conflict

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation (NJVVMF) will host its 15th Annual Interdisciplinary Forum on the Vietnam Era on Friday, October 11, 2013, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Robert B. Meyner Reception Center located off Exit 116 on the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel, NJ.

This year’s Forum is entitled, "We Were There Too:  The Evolution of Women’s Roles in Conflict". Forum panelists will focus on the roles that women have played during periods of military conflict, which have experienced a dramatic evolution.

In order to highlight this evolution, panelists include women who served “in country” during Vietnam, those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and women who provided home front support. Panelists include combat nurses, an “Army brat” who supported her father, siblings and Vietnam Veteran husband from the home front and recent female veterans who have served in leadership positions in the recent conflicts in the Middle East.
