Local Laces up with Goodwill’s Boston Marathon Team

Meet third time marathon runner and father of two, John Diliegro!  He will be running on April 21st with Goodwill’s Boston Marathon Team, Running For Great Kids.  This amazing group of 23 runners, which Diliegro is proud to be a part of, come from across the country with the common goal to raise money for Goodwill’s Youth Initiative.  

“Kids need the skills that Goodwill can provide in order to prepare them to succeed in the business world,” shares Diliegro.  “Investing in our youth is investing in our future leaders.”

Through after-school programs, mentoring partnerships, and summer camp opportunities, Goodwill’s Youth Initiative helps youth in underserved Boston communities prepare for adulthood while focusing on improving their academic skills and building aspirations.

Diliegro finds the hardest part of training to be the early morning runs.  However, he admits that he does his best thinking on long runs, encouraging future marathon runners to simply take it one mile at a time.
