Manalapan's Marty Strumpf Coaches 3 Special Olympics Athletes to Gold

Marty Strumpf is a Manalapan resident and the Head PGA Professional at Farmer Brown's Golf Center.

Over 3,000 athletes from all over the country came to New Jersey to participate in the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, June 14-21. While the athletes’ performances were truly inspirational, there were also selfless coaches and volunteers working behind the scenes, to support these athletes, and help instill the confidence for them to compete. Marty Strumpf, a Manalapan resident and the Head PGA Professional at Farmer Brown’s Golf Center had the privilege of training three athletes, Pauline Naturile (Spring Lake), Jerry Coburn (Spring Lake) and Chris Harold (Freehold),  that participated in the golf competition for Team NJ.

All three athletes won gold medals in their respective divisions, making Strumpf one incredibly proud coach. To play a small role in helping these athletes achieve their dreams was one of the most rewarding experiences of his life. While all three athletes trained by Strumpf won gold medals, the joy of watching them participate, with smiles on their faces, was the greatest reward.
