What is it like to live in Manalapan. NJ?

My husband & I will be going out with a realtor tomorrow to look at homes in Manalapan. We are looking at the Four Season in Manalapan & ranches in Monmouth Heights. What are these areas like? We are coming from Essex County & are looking to downsize. Do most homes in this area require flood insurance? Is there any radon situations? Anything we should know about before moving to the area? Thanks.....

Hi Laura, I am a 25 year resident of Manalapan and, to date, have not heard of any radon issues as many homes were built on what was once farm land. A qualified home inspector will likely perform a routine radon test. To the best of my knowledge, the areas you are reviewing do not require flood insurance although some homeowners with basements in some areas have experienced water issues in their basement over years which is often easily corrected.
