Manalapan's Dog Park Grand Opening Rescheduled to April 29

UPDATE: The official grand opening of the the Dog Park will be now be held on Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. The grand opening has been postponed from the original date of April 22 due to the inclement weather forecast, according to Manalapan Township.

The dog park is located within Thompson Grove Park, a 64-acre municipal park located off of Thompson Grove Road in the southern portion of the township. 

Manalapan residents Peggy and Hal Eisen funded the creation of this dog park in honor of their dog Lulu, who saved her owners lives by awakening them during a house fire which began in the utility room of their house while Hal and Peggy were asleep. Lulu was honored by the Bush's Baked Beans Company for her courage and provided with an award.

On behalf of the Township Committee, Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen is inviting the community to the Grand Opening of the township's first dog park. “I am delighted that the Eisen family and Lulu will celebrate this grand opening with us," Cohen said. "We are truly pleased to add another beautiful amenity to Manalapan Township. We wish to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication to this project”.

The project's conception began with the Recreation Advisory Committee and construction was completed by the Manalapan Public Works Department with additional help from some local Boy Scouts. 

All dogs - from the tiniest pup to the largest hound - are invited to the grand opening! The dog park is made up of two separate fully fenced-in areas, one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. Please be sure to bring some drinking water for your dogs. Parking is adjacent to the dog park.


MANALAPAN TOWNSHIP DOG PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Owners must clean up after their dogs and carry a leash at all times;
• Please, no aggressive dogs, no dogs in season, and no puppies under 4 months old;
• Owners are at all times responsible for the control, actions and behavior of their dogs;
• All dogs must have a valid Manalapan Township dog license and be vaccinated.  It is recommended that your dog be spayed or neutered;
• Dogs must be supervised at all times by an adult or responsible teen.  No unattended dogs are permitted in the dog park;
• Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.  It is recommended that children under 8 years of age not enter the dog park;
• Dogs must always be leashed when outside the containment area and when inside the gate-lock area;
• Please keep gates closed, except when entering or exiting park;
• This park is not supervised, so please use it at your own risk;  Manalapan Township is not responsible for accidents or injuries;
• Park is open from dawn to dusk.

Directions: Thompson Grove Park is easily reached by turning onto Kinney Road from Sweetman’s Lane and proceeding to the first right, which is Thomson Grove Road,  The entrance to the park is approximately 100 yards on  the right.
