Giving Thanks for Loons, Eels, Turtles, Dogfish and Wooly Bears

Joe Reynolds observes the natural world along the Jersey shore. Here are his recent columns and photographs, posted on Patch.

Naturalist Joe Reynolds combs the Bayshore beaches for horseshoe crabs, kayaks the Navesink to peer at the fish, waits for migrating birds at Sandy Hook at dawn, and photographs mud turtles in Hazlet's freshwater lake.

He is a journalist with an eye for beauty and ear for writerly prose who educates us on the wonders all around this coastal community, which we can easily miss as we zip along in cars in our busy lives.

On this holiday, we give thanks for all these creatures that Joe Reynolds shows us are co-existing with us, right here in our urban-suburban world. And we're grateful too to Reynolds for sharing it with Patch.
