What Would You Improve in Manalapan in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Manalapan, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Manalapan and Englishtown to make it an even better place to live?

Would you like to see a supermarket on Route 33? Do you want the Township to offer more recreation programs? Would you like to see the traffic problem on Route 9 solved? Or, is there an issue in 2012 that has dragged on that you would like to see resolved in the new year?

What is on your Manalapan wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog on Manalapan Patch about why you love living here!

Re pave Route 9 South... Crackdown on people driving and talking on cell phones. Improve traffic flow.

Finally Create Bike Lanes throughout Manalapan Township in accordance with the 1978 Park + Recreation+ Open Space Master Plan Report which was never implemented.

Aron, agreed. Too many talking on cell phones. Stiffer penalties for cell phone use while driving. One way to improve traffic flow is to stop building. Manalapan was once a lovely place to live now it is a nightmare driving anywhere, any time of the day. We need a right turn lane at the intersection of Craig Road and Route 9 South. Need another right turn lane on Wemrock and Route 33, where cars sink into the ground ona rainy day.

allow NJ Transit & Academy buses from NYC to drive on the shoulder on Route 9 - this is allowed in Sayreville & Old Bridge but not in Manalapan or Marlboro - and this helps not just the NYC commuters who live in Manalapan but it also helps traffic flow on Route 9

Crack down on all the lazy people who stop their cars in front of any store anywhere! It can be a crowded shopping center or an empty lot...never fails, some people feel it is okay for THEM to block up everything making walking, driving and parking more difficult! MOVE your car, the walking will do you good!

Would like to see the streets swept like they use to be. Live here 45 yrs. & things are going down hill. Also curbside leaf pick up ( no bags) like every other town I go to in NJ has.

Beautify the medians on route 9 by planting trees to make both visually appealing and discourage crossover. A great example. The medians on the Merritt parkway

Deer would try to eat trees on median. How about. We get home burglaries under control
Gwen Louise Bocchinfuso January 01, 2013 at 07:50 PM
There are plenty of trees that are deer proof. But I do like the home burglary control suggestion as well....

I would like to see our recreation department expanded to include a pool and possibly a skate park for our children.
Patrick Roy,AIA,PP, Architect & Planner January 01, 2013 at 09:52 PM
This was proposed back in 1978 as part of the Parks Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.

Add a rail line through Manalapan.
pat salofsky January 02, 2013 at 12:46 AM
Why do we need such WIDE mediums on Rt. 9 ? They can be used for extra lanes - especially between Schibanoff & Taylors Mills...

Help the small businesses more. first- by allowing them to put up signs to advertise more and for longer periods of time and second- something many towns are doing is giving the consumer a tax credit if they reside in the township and purchase from small businesses with in that township. Marlboro already as this in place and we need it here in Manalapan.

Put up no littering signs and enforce a no littering law! Make the Manalapan Rec dog friendly.

Mrs.Strippoli January 02, 2013 at 07:02 PM
