He did not say he HAD evidence but that he KNEW of evidence

Just wondering how disappointed some will be if nothing ever comes of this. Of course, the damage will have already been done, but it will be interesting.
Henry Krinkle February 04, 2014 at 04:34 PM
I, for one would be devastated if he managed to wiggle off the hook but I have complete faith in Christie's consistent and irrefutable record of malfeasance...God willing, he will get what he deserves.
demosthenes February 04, 2014 at 04:55 PM
Pat - If nothing else "comes" of this, it has already been established that Christie's most senior staffers (not to mention his three top appointees to the Port Authority conspired to cause a traffic jam on the GW bridge for some kind of improper indefensible reason. Perhaps the reason why "the damage will already be done" is because it doesn't need to get any worse for this to be a serious scandal.
Jack B Goode February 04, 2014 at 08:07 PM
How sad that the previous comments all hope that the Governor is guilty. If he was a Democrat, say like Obama, he would be given every benefit of the doubt, and would be defended regardless of what he knew and when he knew it . (see Ben Ghazi and IRS scandal)
karen egert February 04, 2014 at 08:24 PM
Now Christie is saying that it may have come into his "consciousness "that there was some traffic problems on the GW bridge at the time it was happening . He thinks maybe someone " mentioned it to him " . So that's lie number one as he has been claiming all along that he knew NOTHING about it at the time . 1. EVERYONE on his staff , including his most senior advisors knew about this . The instructions were not to take any calls from the Fort Lee Mayor . They were not to answer the phone . Somehow they were all doing this , risking their jobs without the sanction of Christie? That makes no sense 2. Senator Loretta Weinberg wrote at least one letter , maybe more , to the NJ Port Authority dept in Trenton during the lane closures asking what was going on and why . The Governor's office was cc'd on those letters . She got no response . His office doesn't read letters or emails is that it ? 3. He was told about all of this when he was asked about it in a press conference at which point he tried to belittle the reporter by making fun of him and turning it into a joke . Ok ... Lets say we all believe what he wants us to believe and that he heard about it , but did nothing for 3 months after repeated questions , testimony by Loretta Weinberg at Port Authority committee meetings back in September and all of his staff knowing . Then guess what ? He's a TERRIBLE Governor if that's the case if he knew what was happening and did NOTHING . Either way , he is not serving the people of NJ respectively or with any regard . He does not deserve the job . He's a phony actor .
BellairBerdan February 04, 2014 at 08:26 PM
Does anyone in their right mind think that given the opportunity Christie wouldn't use the IRS to attack individuals that he perceives as being political enemies?
Pat February 04, 2014 at 09:05 PM
Now Obama is saying that it may have come into his "consciousness "that there was some attack at Benghazi at the time it was happening . He thinks maybe someone " mentioned it to him " . So that's lie number one as he has been claiming all along that he knew it was a protest about a video at the time . 1. EVERYONE on his staff , including his most senior advisors knew about this . The instructions were not to take any calls from the Ambassador. They were not to answer the phone . Somehow they were all doing this , risking their jobs without the sanction of Obama? That makes no sense 2. Ambassador Stevens wrote at least one letter , maybe more , to the Hillary Clinton in DC before the attack asking for more security and why. The defense Dept was cc'd on those letters . They received no additional security. Her office doesn't read letters or emails is that it ? 3. He was told about all of this when he was asked about it in a press conference at which point he tried to blame a video tape. Ok ... Lets say we all believe what he wants us to believe and that he knew about it , but did nothing for hours after repeated requests for help. testimony by General Ham at congressional hearings back in May confirmed a terror attack and all of his staff knowing . Then guess what ? He's a TERRIBLE President. if that's the case if he knew what was happening and did NOTHING . Either way , he is not serving the people of US respectively or with any regard . He does not deserve the job . He's a phony actor .

Anyone in their right mind should know Christie wanted to use the pension fund as his slush fund. Sandy came along first. This man has no confidence in himself and he has to resort to these methods. He has been like this all his life. NOW HE CAN GET OBAMA CARE!!! Get this sick man out of office. He is only going to do it again with the second amount of money coming form Sandy. He can not help himself. I was hit by Sandy. I hope he gets what he deserves!!

Whoops, Pat. You seem to have posted on the wrong article.
Eric February 05, 2014 at 09:32 AM
Seriously do we have to defend every politician by pointing out real or imagined transgressions of other politicians in their opposing political party? If any of you are married and carry on like this with your spouse, enjoy that divorce you have coming.
jim February 05, 2014 at 09:50 AM
come on pat! that's the best you can do is deflect this to obama. thats when you know someone doesnt have any facts to support their side. "o obama did it so its not a big deal that our guy did it too!"... as an independent it is hilarious to watch libs and republicans debate back and forth and say well your guy did this so what our guy did isnt as bad. meanwhile none of them- christie, obama, hilary, cruz, ryan give a crap about any of you. they are all corrupt puppets laughing all the way to the bank while you guys are to distracted arguing with each other to realize they are all the same.

How much time did Mr. Stewart and his team of writers spend on the antics of someone like Eric Holder, who is in a role much more important than Christie. Tons of material there, I wonder how many minutes of comedy show time was spent on Holder?Christie distancing himself was worthy of skewering, but consider how Bill & Hillary drop their friends as soon as things get sticky. Ask one of the liberal watch dogs to analyze the ratio of material devoted to the Dems and you'll see this is not true comedy, which pokes fun at everyone.
BART FRAENKEL February 05, 2014 at 10:50 AM
I guess you don't watch the show then Larry, because The Daily Show pokes fun at everyone. Is there a slight bent toward Republicans, yes there is, but come on, even you should admit they do a great job of making themselves targets with their behavior. The Democrats are no bargain either, but the difference seems to be Republicans seem to position themselves as keeper of the moral barometer and when they screw up it makes them look dumb. Whereas the Democrats just do stupid things without telling everyone how morally righteous they are.
BellairBerdan February 05, 2014 at 11:25 AM
FOCUS, LARRY. FOCUS!
larry lynch February 05, 2014 at 12:26 PM
OK, try this perspective. The media replaying clips from the Daily Show are predominantly liberal. Therefore, a huge portion of the clips are replayed online and on CNN and the liberal lip biter channels. As far as Democrats go, they piously accept responsibility only when they are backed into a corner. Then, nothing happens, as their crocodile tears absolve them from punishment or better, resignation.
BART FRAENKEL February 05, 2014 at 01:01 PM
It might be a different perspective but I still disagree. The Daily Show recognizes their audience is made up mostly of people with a liberal point of view, so they show them more of what 'they want', but they do also show liberal screw ups, too. It really isn't any different than FOX News and their ultra-conservative point of view in the clips they show. Both are businesses that want to be profitable in the 'entertainment' industry and therefore make sure they keep their audience happy with what they show.
larry lynch February 05, 2014 at 01:16 PM
Many young people actually mention watching Jon Stewart when asked if they follow "news/current events/politics." So if you consider the show to be entertainment only, you are mistaken. You do miss my point: Fox vs. Stewart/NBC/CNN/NYT etc. The number of channels across the spectrum distributing liberal content far outweighs outnumbered conservative content. Bellair: It must save considerable time communicating by repeating a single word. Your understanding of the scope of the liberal bias issue, even in so-called comedy, is impressive.
BellairBerdan February 05, 2014 at 01:29 PM
Perhaps larry missed John Stewart's recent interview with Nancy Pelosi. FOX seemed to like that one.
Michele Guttenberger February 05, 2014 at 02:00 PM
I give a pass to Jon Stewart's satire of the Jersey Gov because he is a Jersey Boy dong it and he is a comedian. However, the NJ Dems tearing apart the Gov on national news TV is really beating up New Jersey. Hosting the Super Bowl was Jersey's national shining moment over NY. Instead the Gov of NJ was booed in Times Square for the pre game promo. So in the PR Super Bowl Game national coverage, NY scored a touchdown and NJ was the loosing Home Team . Dem's be not proud of your ragging Bad Gov podium. You are also blocking the lanes of national pride for New Jersey with your news sensational stories that gives you a fleeting national spotlight at the expense of New Jersey's reputation. Stop feeding the public media frenzy looking to make NJ into a bully and thug state that fits the HBO image of NJ. Today it is NJ Repub scandals, tomorrow it will be NJ Dem scandals. Maybe NJ will get an Oscar for American Hustle. Then we can win something for our scandals. It certainty wasn't hosting the Super Bowl games.
jim February 05, 2014 at 02:42 PM
@larry- at least stewart admits he is comedian, fox news actually pretends to be "fair and Balanced news" and reports a bunch of one sided BS. maybe there would be more conservative channels if they produced a better product, stations need to have viewers to stay on the air, more viewers chose the "liberal" channels so there are more of them... isnt that the free market concept fox always promotes?
DD February 05, 2014 at 06:06 PM
@eric, dysfunctional marriage, dysfunctional discourse in politics. Lots of parallels, to your point. And ultimately pointless and destructive. I have to admit, it's fun to watch it happen when it's your neighbors that you find you don't particularly like very much to begin with.
larry lynch February 05, 2014 at 06:29 PM
Bellair: I missed the Stewart interview on Pelosi because I must have been focused on ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/NYT that day. They sure as hell did not carry it. But the AP Press has devoted mote pages to Bridgegate than the end of WW 2!
karen egert February 05, 2014 at 07:42 PM
In response to Michelle Guttenberger's comment , this has nothing to do with hurting New Jerseyans and our reputation by calling out Christie . It's about supporting all New Jersey citizens by pointing out how the constituents of the Governor have been deliberately and systematically hurt --- all for his own selfish and petty purposes to serve himself ... Not us ! What his administration has done is outrageous and to think that Christie knew nothing about any of this seems ridiculous . It doesn't pass the smell test , that's for sure .
larry lynch February 05, 2014 at 07:58 PM
How soon we forget. When The Gay American broke his leg on LBIand helicopters were dispatched to rescue him, fortunately iron rods were inserted to facilitate his recovery. His wife and Security chief were there to monitor the insertion process and subsequent removal after the Gov. was satisfied with the procedure.
BellairBerdan February 05, 2014 at 08:28 PM
Gee larry WWII was before my time but I heard it was something. Since you remember it you probably also know why the Fairness Doctrine is no longer in practice. The FCC under Reagan ended it. When Congress tried to re-instate it Reagan vetoed it. Freedom of Speech. Remember? But really, how many networks can we have whose only focus is on the next missing blonde teen girl, black kids (including the president) that scare old white people and urging you to buy gold because the sky is falling can we have?
David Comora February 05, 2014 at 11:03 PM
Seems like we haven't had a good "elected" governor since Tom Keane. Richard Cody did a fine job as well for the short time that he was there. I suppose its hard to get good people to run ... in the meantime, it looks like Christie is about to begin the 3rd act of his nightmare. http://newbrunswicktoday.com/article/breaking-powerful-developer-received-sandy-aid-has-no-experience-building-affordable-housing
