Josie & Mikey: Two Pups Looking for Forever Homes

UPDATE: Josie has been adopted by a Manalapan resident and is currently living in her forever home locally!

Josie is a 7 month old, currently 44 lbs., Pointer/Border Collie/Lab Mix who originally came to us from a high-kill shelter in the south. She is now residing in one of our local foster homes where she has been friendly with all who have met her so far. She is residing with several other dogs of various sizes, 3 cats, and has had play dates with a 10 year old little girl, and was a doll with her.

Josie originally barked at the cats, but doesn't pay them much attention anymore. She seemed a little confused on how to interact with the dogs at first, but now initiates play with them as one of the pack. It seems Josie didn't get much socialization with other animals in her past, but is now fitting right into a multi-animal foster home.

Josie is house trained, crate trained, knows how to sit, and is doing well with leash walking. Josie is much further along than a baby puppy, but she is only 7 months old, so she is still going to need some more basic training. She has a sweet demeanor and would make a wonderful addition to an active family. We feel a home with a fenced in yard would be best for her, as she is high-energy. Josie is up-to-date with her vaccines, micro chipped, heart worm negative, on heart worm preventatives, and is spayed. Mikey is a 15 lb., 8-9 year old boy whose family abandoned him at a high-kill shelter! We went to the shelter to pull out a few animals to save them from euthanasia. There was Mikey, with the most pathetic look in his eyes, gazing at us from his cage. We went over to take a look at him, and then sadly looked at one another. Who abandons their dog in his Golden Years? It was so unfair for him to be discarded this way at his age. We took him out of his cage, and that dim look in his eyes changed, and he happily danced around! We decided there was no way we were putting him back in that cage!

Mikey is such a ham, who loves everyone! He's in a foster home with other dogs, a few cats, and a bird, and he gets along with all! He's a happy, healthy boy who still has a lot of pep to his step, and many years left to share with someone! He's the type of dog that is happy to accompany you for some outside playtime, or is fine with some down time on the couch.

Mikey has been fully vetted. He's up-to-date with his vaccines, had a dental cleaning, is neutered, HW negative, is on HW preventatives, bloodwork looks good, is micro chipped, and has had a few cysts removed. He's healing up great and is ready for his forever home! His adoption fee is $125, which is a tax deductible donation.
