Nation-wide sporting goods retailer Sports Authority will be celebrating the grand opening of its newest store in Manalapan on Saturday, Aug. 11. The more than 40,000 square foot store, located behind the P.C. Richard & Son within the Epicentre shopping plaza at 55 Rt. 9, will open its doors at 8 a.m. on Saturday with special promotions and giveaways for their customers.

“Mystery Bucks”, ranging from $5 to $500, will be awarded to the first 250 customers, $100 cash drawings will be done hourly, and customers can register for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree.

If that isn’t enough to get you down to the store, former New York Giants linebacker Carl Banks will be making an appearance at 1 p.m.

“We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of our Manalapan store where we will provide industry-leading customer service and a complete selection of quality sporting good products,” Chairman and CEO of Sports Authority Darrell Webb said.  “Sports Authority believes in celebrating the good in sport.  Our new store will not only create local jobs, but will also provide great value and service to the athletes and sports organizations in this community.”

According to Sports Authority publicist Jeff Dorman, this store has been designed in a new format aimed at  improving customers’ shopping experience by providing a simpler lay out, brighter lighting, bolder colors, and adding distinctive departments for apparel, footwear, team sports, outdoor and fitness. The new store will also feature a new fitness and checkout area, an expanded footwear department, and Nike and Under Armour Shops.

The full-line sporting goods chain has more than 470 stores in 45 states across the country and carries popular brands such as Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, TaylorMade, The North Face, and much more.

Summer store hours for the Manalapan Sports Authority will be 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday.
