TELL US: What Should the Vacant Siperstein's Location Become?

Think outside of the box! What would be the perfect retail establishment for this location?

Now that Siperstein's Paint & Decorating Center is no longer located on Rt. 9 North in Manalapan, the township has a large facility that is left vacant.

Siperstein's Paint & Decorating has three locations in the state, including one in Jersey City, North Plainfield and the founding location in Long Branch which was established in 1904.

Now that the large location is vacant, Patch wants to know what other business you think would be perfect at this location. Another paint store? A gym? A bowling alley?

Let Patch know what you think would be the perfect retail establishment for this location in the comments below!

As a member of the Manalapan Township EDC (Economic Development Committee) and a member of the township's Zoning Board, I would be very interested in the results.

An independent movie theater like Clearview Cinemas in Red Bank. If not there, somewhere in town.

How about a roller skating rink or ice skating rink. Our kids need a place to have fun. The schools would have a place for this sport (ice hockey). They could even incorporate a roller skating restaurant to draw attention. Manalapan needs something fun for kids and parents but different! If is going to be done it needs to be done right.

At this stage of planning, it is important to know how much parking is available for how much usable interior space. Many desirous uses may require more parking than is available. Thus making them less viable.

I don't think it's big enough for bowling alleys. I think something boring, but practical that will thrive in a dwindling economy. The "Baby boomers" are in more & more need of Medical Supply Houses. An independent Pharmacy inside as well.

A senior center or a teen center

The best suggestion by far! Unfortunately, it will never happen.

How about a Manalapan Career Training Center. Utilized by residents from our HS, Seniors and those looking to get employment within the neighborhood? It can be funded as a non-profit, and students from the HS can earn credits for teaching others. A type of program in which businesses and corporations in the area find residents who have been trained or are willing to be trained.

How about a change of the members of the EDC, Zoning & Planning Boards who have made a mess of route 9 in Manalapan. Knock the building down, put in a berm with trees and put a commuter parking lot behind it.

Two great ideas!! Trader Joe's or better yet-an independent movie theater where they show meaningful, thought provoking films. Theaters that show selective films are located in Red Bank, Rocky Hill and Montclair.

An ice skating rink is a wonderful idea but , it needs a lot of room and is expensive to keep up. There may not be enough people interested to fund something like this. But, for those of us who enjoy ice skating , we have to travel to other townships such as Old Bridge or Farmingdale, etc. to be involved in this activity.
