5 Things to Know Today in Manalapan: Dec. 31, 2012

A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township and the Borough of Englishtown.

1. Sunny Day, Snowy Night: The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly sunny day with the high temperature reaching around 39. There is a 20 percent chance of snow showers tonight, otherwise, the sky will be mostly cloudy and the low temperature drops to about 26.

 

 

2. Leaf Pick-Up: Bagged fallen leaves will be picked up today. They were not collected on Monday, Dec. 24 because of the holiday.

3. New Year’s Eve Party: If your children or teenagers still do not have plans for tonight, consider bringing them to iPlay America for a safe and fun New Year’s Eve Party. There will be a live DJ playing music for dancing, a buffet of food, unlimited rides and attractions, and raffles and prizes. Children 12 and under cost $59.95 and teenagers 13 and over cost $74.95. The party begins at 8 p.m. iPlay America is located  at 110 Schanck Road in Freehold Township.

4. Master Gardener: The deadline to apply for the Monmouth County Master Gardener Program to become a certified expert in home gardening is Jan. 2. The application can be downloaded from the county’s website at www.visitmonmouth.com. Be sure to click on the Department link to the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service. You can also pick up a copy at the Cooperative Extension Service office at 4000 Kozloski Road, Freehold, or call 732-431-7260 to request an application be mailed to you. There is a $250 fee to cover material and program costs.
