5 Things to Know Today in Manalapan: Jan. 15, 2013

1. Possible Rain, Sleet: Today will be mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and sleet before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service; the high temperature today will reach around 41. Tonight will be cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain, sleet, and snow. The low temperature tonight will drop to about 32.

 

2. School Security Public Hearing: The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education is hosting a public hearing on district security tonight. All are encouraged to attend. The hearing will take place within the auditorium of the Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School at 7 p.m.

4. Movie at the Library: Foreign Letters will be playing at the Monmouth County Library today as a part of their “Starting Fresh: A Film Series”. The film follows Ellie, a 12-year-old immigrant girl from Israel who befriends a Vietnamese refugee around her age. Starring Laura Camien and Virginia Hastings, the drama based on a true story will be screened at 2 p.m. today.

5. Think Tank: The Entrepreneurial Think Tank for Moms is holding a seminar tonight entitled “More Success by Obsessing Less”. Elaine Morales, speaker, author, and life transformation coach will be speaking. Morales helps women who are obsessed, distressed, and downright depressed by on-going food drama in their lives to break free and achieve their ideal weight while enjoying food and loving life. The seminar is free and will take place at 800 W. Main Street in Freehold at 6:30 p.m.
