5 Things to Know Today in Manalapan: July 19, 2012

A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township and the Borough of Englishtown.

1. A Bit Cooler: The high temperature today drops about 10 degrees from yesterday, but still will be around 89. And the sun takes a break today too, as the National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies and a 40 percent chance of rain. Tonight, the low temperature dips to about 70 and the chance of rain continues.

 

 

2. Government:

3.: The is holding a free Introduction to Drawing class today for teenagers in grades 6 and up. The class is perfect for beginners and will be taught by artists from the Sumei Multidisciplinary Arts Center. Fundamentals of drawing such as: line quality, form, perspective, composition, shading and more will be taught. The class will be held at 3 p.m.

 

 

4. : Have kids that are interested in running? A summer running camp will be held at the Manalapan Recreation Center from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. tonight. For kids in grades 3-12, participants will be taught more about running by the knowledgeable staff of Gone Running. The class costs $100.

 

 

5. Political Signs: The Manalapan Township sign ordinance was changed last week to allow more than one sign per lot and signs constituting political speech are now allowed. Some residents at last week’s meeting want to see more changes to the ordinance, however, notably the time limit on displaying election signs. Do you think that a time limit for displaying an election sign on private property is unconstitutional? .
