Dear Citizens of Englishtown Borough:

As you are all well-aware, Hurricane Irene has prompted Governor Christie to declare a state of emergency for New Jersey this August 25, 2011.  The declaration ensures the state can deploy emergency resources and even the National Guard if needed.

 Safety First

I encourage all residents to take precautions during this state of emergency.  The latest forecast calls for Irene to deliver heavy rain and high winds throughout the tri-state area.  Ensure you have enough food, water and a battery-operated radio and flashlight on hand.  Please store anything in your yard or outside your house that could be knocked down or turned into a missile because of high winds.  Above all, stay indoors during the storm.

I want to let you know our Emergency Management team has been activated.  They are in direct contact with the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management.  Englishtown’s Police, Fire, and First Aid personnel are prepared and will be ready on arrival.

Emergency and Non-Emergency Numbers

Please use 911 for true medical or fire emergencies.  If you have downed power lines by your home, do not attempt to touch or move them -- report them to the police non-emergency # (732) 446-7000.  Here are additional important phone numbers for you to keep:

  • Non-Emergency Numbers:
  • Police:               (732) 446-7000
  • Fire:                   (732) 446-4818
  • First Aid:            (732) 786-0133
  • Borough Hall:    (732) 446-9235
