A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township.

1. School Election Results: You voted, and both the Freehold Regional High School District and the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School district budgets have passed! 

Incumbent Michele Stipelman will remain on the Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education. Joining her will be Dotty Porcaro and Ralph Cafaro, beating out Martin Spindel for the three open board seats, each for a three-year term.

2. Gusty and Stormy: Strong south winds between 17 and 23 miles per hour along with gusts around 33 miles per hour are expected today, according to the National Weather Service. An 80 percent chance of heavy downpours are also projected. High near 71. Tonight, expect thunderstorms to continue before 8 p.m. switching over to light rainfall between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Chance of precipitation tonight is 60 percent. Low near 50 degrees.

3. Government: The Manalapan Township Planning Board meets tonight at 8 p.m. in the courtroom. 

 

4. :

  • Seniors Say Wii!: All senior citizens come on out from 10 a.m. to noon today and show off your Wii Bowling skills! All are encouraged to bring their own controller if they have one. Registration is required.
  • Line Dancing: Leslie Clare teaches several pieces of choreography, breaking them down for easy understanding. Join in the dance from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. today and be sure to wear your dancing shoes (i.e. flat and comfortable...) !
  • Preserving Your Family Photographs: Celebrate Preservation Week with Monmouth County Archivist Gary Saretzky from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. by learning how to preserve family photos, both older photographs and digital ones.  
  • Poems, Silly and Not: Listen to poetry readings in honor of National Poetry Month from 4:15 p.m. until 5 p.m. Children in kindergarten and above are invited to attend; no registration necessary.
  • Author Talk: David G. Stroebel:  Freehold Township author, David G. Stroebel discusses his latest work The Cannon King's Daughter  from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The book tells the story of Engelbertha Krupp, the author's great-grandmother, who was the only heir to the $75 billion dollar Krupp dynasty. Krupps exile and disinheritance may have changed the trajectory of WWII. 
  • Healthy Bones at Any Age: Five Factors for Reducing Bone Loss: Join Dr. Michael E. Rothman for his presentation on reducing bone lost holistically. The discussion will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
