2. Government:

  • The Manalapan Township Committee Public Meeting takes place tonight at 8 p.m. in the courtroom of the . For tonight’s agenda, click here
  • The Englishtown Borough Council is holding a special meeting tonight at the at 7 p.m.about introducing an ordinance authorizing the purchase of 17 Main St. The council is interested in buying this property because it is located right next to Borough Hall. The council held a about pursuing the acquisition of the property for the purpose of an impound lot or parking lot.

3. Calling all Teenagers: The meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the on Symmes Road. This group of teens plans great programs and events for teenagers to enjoy at the library. Need some community service hours? Joining this group earns teenagers hours of community service (a must for your college applications!)

 

 

4. New Pee Wee Division in Manalapan Soccer Club: The Manalapan Soccer Club has formed a new Pee Wee Division for children under the age of four. Kids born between Aug. 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008 are allowed to join the U4 team. This division will be co-ed and is limited to 50 players. Professional trainers from UK Elite will run the team and practices will be held on Saturday afternoons for 6 weeks; joining the division costs $75. Register here

 

 

5. S’mores Day: Happy National S’mores Day! Every Aug. 10 everyone’s favorite summertime campfire treat is celebrated. While the holiday is not official (which an act of Congress requires) the holiday has been celebrated for years. So celebrate today by toasting a marshmallow and placing it on top of a piece of chocolate and sandwiching it between two graham cracker pieces. Don’t have a campfire on hand? Create the s’more and pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds, and enjoy!
