1. Summery Friday: Today will be partly sunny with a high around 84, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature reaching 66 degrees.

2. Rock Solid Mud Run: Test your endurance, strength, and grit and the Rock Solid Mud Run at in Englishtown this Saturday, Aug. 6. The mud run is comprised of two courses that are designed by US Marines: the long course is 10 miles and described as “much tougher” than the short course, which is 5 miles. The courses involve running, crawling, climbing, swimming, jumping and, of course, mud! Danny Bonaduce will also be present announcing the start of the race!

3. Pancakes and Car Wash for a Cause: Commemorate the life of Old Bridge resident Nicole Trott at the Applebee's in Manalapan on Sunday, Aug. 7, with a . The breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. and the car wash will happen right after the breakfast in the parking lot of the restaurant franchise. The funds raised will go towards a scholarship foundation which will be started in Nicole Trott’s name. Trott died in late June from a heart defect she has had since birth. The Applebee's is located at 55 Rt. 9 South. 

 

 

4. Family Movie Night: Enjoy the inspirational story of Bethany Hamilton: a young girl who, despite losing an arm in a shark attack, was able to continue on her dream of becoming a professional surfer in Soul Surfer. The film will play at Monmouth Worship Center in Marlboro this evening at 6 p.m. Soul Surfer stars Annasophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Dennis Quaid. The worship center is located at 37 Vanderburg Rd. in Marlboro.

 

 

5. Put your long hair to good use: This Saturday, Aug. 6, is monthly day to donate your 10-inch or longer pony tail to Locks of Love. Locks of Love takes the donated hair and turns it into wigs for children who suffer from hair loss as a result of medical conditions. Come in any time from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. to donate your hair!
