Five Things to Know Today: Feb. 29, 2012

A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township and the Borough of Englishtown.

1. Definite Rain: The National Weather Service is calling for a 100 percent chance of rain today, which will mostly fall in the morning. The high temperature today will be around 44 degrees. Tonight, the temperature drops to about 39 and there is an 80 percent chance of more rainfall.

 

 

2. Leap Year: Happy Leap Year Day! For the first time in four years it is February 29. Not sure what the purpose of the leap year day is? This extra day is added every four years in order to balance out our calendar because the earth does not orbit the sun within 365 days exactly, it orbits the sun within an average of 365.25 days.

4. Jewish Experience of Monmouth County: The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County is currently displaying a photography exhibit which has captured the Monmouth County Jewish Experience. The photographs were all submissions of a photography contest the Museum recently held.  Check it out today between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The museum is located at 310 Mounts Corner Dr. in Freehold.
