Five Things to Know Today: Feb. 8, 2012

A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township and the Borough of Englishtown.

1. Snow Possible: The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of precipitation on Wednesday. Rain will begin before 2 p.m. and transition into snow, though accumulation will be minimal. Otherwise, Wednesday will be cloudy with a high of 39 and an evening low of 28 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Government: The Manalapan Township Committee will meet at the on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

3. Delayed Opening: Manalapan High School will have a 90-minute delayed opening on Wednesday for staff professional development. Buses will arrive at their stops 90 minutes late, and school will begin at 9 a.m.

4. CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township will host “Girls Grow Up” on Wednesday at 7 p.m. During the program, which is designed for adolescent girls and their parents, a health educator will discuss the social, chemical and emotional changes that accompany puberty. The cost is $18 per child; parents are free.

5. Monmouth County Library: Challenge yourself with a game of duplicate bridge at on Wednesday from noon to 3:30 p.m.
