Five Things to Know Today: Jan. 13, 2012 - Friday the 13th!

A compilation of the need to know info and events going on in, and around, Manalapan Township and the Borough of Englishtown.

1. Rain Likely: Today will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature around 41, according to the National Weather Center.  There is also a 60 percent chance of rain today, which will most likely fall after 11 a.m. Tonight, the sky remains mostly cloudy and the temp drops to around 25.

2. Friday the 13th: That’s right….the most notorious day of bad luck has arrived. Friday’s fall on the 13th of the month at least once a year, and at most three times a year. The superstition is not an old one and no evidence of it has been documented before the 19th century. Generally, however, both the number 13 and the day Friday are considered unlucky - thus the combination of the two is doubly  unlucky!

3. Teen Bowling Night: Teenagers can enjoy a fun evening of bowling tonight at , located at 363 Route 33 in Manalapan. For a price of $8.99 a person every teenager will get bowling shoes, two hours of bowling, an individual pizza, and a small soft drink. A coupon must be presented; to retrieve it, click here.

 

 

4. : Come to the CentraState Medical Center today to learn CPR  today. The class takes place this morning at 8:30 a.m. and costs $60. The price covers a workbook, CD, and a two-year certification card.

 

 

5. : Listen to the Claudio Roditi Quintet play from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the . The Quintet is playing as a part of the library’s monthly jazz concert series, which is free.
