Five Things to Know Today: May 9, 2011

1. Warm day, cool night: Expect a high of 72 degrees today and mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, skies remain clear and temperatures drop to a low near 46. 

 

2. Freehold Regional High School District: The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education is holding their reorganization meeting tonight at 8 p.m. The board will meet for executive session at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the at 11 Pine St. in Englishtown. 3. Government: The Englishtown Borough Council is holding a special meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the . The meeting was scheduled specifically to hold a public hearing on Ordinance No. 2011-04 entitled "An Ordinance Amending & Supplementing Chapter 2.50 of the Borough Code Book Entitled "Schedule of Fees".  This ordinance will change the prices of admission for certain town festivals and events. Official action will be taken.

5. Teenager Safety: The Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) of the Freehold Regional High School District is holding a program entitled: "Teen Internet and Social Network Safety and Teen Mental Health Issues".  The seminar, which is taking place in the auditorium of Colts Neck High School from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, will include a discussion on the dangers of social networking sites, internet behavior, and texting. A member of law enforcement and parent of a special needs child will present this discussion. The workshop on teenage mental health problems will be presented by several FRHSD school psychologists. Emotional issues commonly seen in teenagers will be discussed, as well as all warning signs to look for.
