1. Columbus Day: Happy Columbus Day! Always celebrated on the second Monday of October, Columbus Day commemorates the coming of Christopher Columbus to the Americas on October 12, 1492. While all of America celebrates this day, a lot of the celebration takes place within the Italian-American community since Christopher Columbus, or Cristoforo Colombo, was Italian.

2. Summery Day: Indian Summer continues today with a high near 84 degrees and sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, the skies are mostly clear, and the temperature dips to a low near 56.

3. Columbus Day Golf Outing: The St. Vincent de Paul Society ofand are holding a golf outing today at . All proceeds will go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a non-profit organization that helps people in need on a one-on-one basis. The begins at 9 a.m.

 

 

4. Free Dance and Acting Classes for Kids: Today the NYC Performing Arts Center on Rt. 33 in Freehold is offering a community event today with free dance and acting classes for kids ages 2 through 18. For more information on the schedule and the classes offered today, click .
