Five Things You Need To Know

A list of five things you need to know today, Feb. 24.

1. Good morning, Manalapan. Thursday will be cloudy with a high of 45 degrees and a low of 38, according to the National Weather Service. There is a 30 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m. and a 90 percent chance Thursday night.

2. The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders will hold a workshop meeting at the Hall of Records building at 2 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7 p.m. The governing body will introduce the $496 million county budget during the regular meeting.

3. The Manalapan Township Planning Board will hold their meeting at 8 p.m. at the Manalapan Municipal Building.

4. Know of any historic buildings in Manalapan or Englishtown that you think are worthy of recognition? The Monmouth County Historical Commission is accepting nominations for its annual preservation awards program. Any structure, including office buildings, houses of worship, public buildings and homes, that is over 50 years old, has historic value, and has undergone preservation work in 2010 is eligible for the award.

Visit Monmouth County’s Web site for entry information and an application. Completed applications should be mailed to Monmouth County Historical Commission, Hall of Records Annex, 2nd floor, Freehold, NJ 07728 by Friday, April 1.
