The Manalapan Township municipal government issued a statement indicating that 5,700 residents lost power Wednesday night as a result of the heavy snow and high winds of the Nor'easter.
Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) told the Township that power is expected to be restored by Saturday. Tree and line crews are working to bring back the electricity and will continue to work throughout tonight, according to the municipal government. The Manalapan Township Department of Public Works are continuing to plow the streets and remove downed trees. If you see any hazards or trees blocking the local roadways, please call the Manalapan Township storm hotline at 732-446-3200.
The Manalapan Senior Center has been reactivated as an emergency shelter for anyone who needs a warm place to stay during this time.
Garbage collection will continue, but it has been delayed. The Township asks that you leave your garbage at the curb as it will be collected eventually. In regards to recycling pick-up, those with Tuesday/Friday collection will have recycling picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
