JCP&L Englishtown-Manalapan Transmission Line Upgrade Begins

This upgrade will improve the service of the electric system.

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has begun construction of an Englishtown-Manalapan transmission line upgrade which will be done within an existing JCP&L transmission corridor.

The three mile upgrade also includes the removal of an 115kV line and the construction of a new 230 kV line, the Manalapan Township Committee has reported. The purpose of this upgrade is to improve the lasting reliability of the electric system in the region.

Homeowners near the construction area will be notified; construction should begin this week. Construction crews will leave hangtags near the affected areas along the JCP&L right of way from the Englishtown substation to Route 33, the report stated. The Englishtown substation is located at the corner of Tracy Station Road and Route 522.
