Monmouth County Photographer Enjoys the View

Morgan Miller has his lens focused on the nature of his home state.

For Morgan Miller, film has always generated fascination.

Miller, 22 of Marlboro Township, said he got serious about photography about six years ago, but he remembers being a child and picking up a camera.

"I remember being as young as 6 in day camp, and my teacher would let me use the old film camera," he said. "Everyone knows. They say 'It's Morgan, he's got a camera.'"

Now, Miller is a student at the New York Institute of Photography, honing his skills and interest while enjoying the view in New Jersey.

"There are a lot of places here that are really, really beautiful," Miller said.

Miller's passion is landscape and nature photography. He enjoys traveling the state, finding hidden gems of New Jersey life such as Holmdel Park and Sea Bright. From some points in Sea Bright, Miller said you can see the New York City skyline.

"It makes you realize how small the world is," he said.

But Miller has dreams beyond the large world of New Jersey.  His dream is to work for National Geographic and travel the globe.

"I've always wanted to go to Japan during the Cherry Blosson Festival, or Wales," he said. "Wales is breathtakingly beautiful."

Miller's work is authored under the name Mad Hatter's Photography, or m90 Photo. Promoted largely through social media, Miller's pictures can be found on his Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and through his website.

And you will find very little computer editing done. Miller said that when he does make image altering edits, it will be blatantly obvious.

"I want to show natural beauty, the beauty that is really there."
