Special Weather Statement Issued for Manalapan

The National Weather Service issued the statement due to Monday night's snowfall and today's icy road conditions.

Monmouth County residents woke up this morning to the first snow of 2013.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), anywhere from a half-inch, to an inch and a half of snow fell Monday night, causing hazardous road conditions this morning. At 8:30 a.m. the NWS reported that it was 18 degrees in Manalapan, but with the wind chill, it felt more like 6 degrees outside. Due to the drop in temperature, the NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement for much of New Jersey, including Monmouth County.

The Special Weather Statement asks residents to watch out for icy road conditions this morning, suggesting that drivers use extra care while on the roads and to leave plenty of space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you.
