Still Without Power? Red Cross Serves Food in Freehold, JCP&L Offers Water

If you are one of the residents whose power has not yet been restored, you can enjoy a free lunch and dinner offered by the American Red Cross in Freehold, and get free water and ice at participating supermarkets.

Still without power? Jersey Central Power & Light are still reporting that almost 1,000 residents in Manalapan are still without power, as of Thursday morning. JCP&L has released a statement that power should be reinstated by the end of the weekend. 

The Manalapan Township administration does not have any specific information as to when JCP&L will be in the area to restore power, or why some areas are taking longer than others to be restored.

JCP&L customers who are still without power can stock up on free water and ice at participating grocery stores, the closest of which are located:

  • Acme Supermarket, 3241 Rt. 9, Freehold
  • Norkus Foodtown, 597 Park Ave., Freehold
  • ShopRite, 260 County Line Rd., Jackson
  • Acme Supermarket, 616 Newman Springs Rd., Lincroft

Additionally, the Jersey Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross will be serving meals again on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Center Street and Lloyd Street in Freehold Borough, according to the Freehold Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a message from the Freehold Township OEM stated. Meals will be served to any Monmouth County residents without power as long as supplies last.
