10. Tenure Charges Against Manalapan Principal Revealed

The three tenure charges filed against former Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon by the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education were revealed in late February 2012. The charges included mishandling of student activity funds and endangering students.

In late May, a Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School district bus ran off of the road and struck a light pole and a tree. None of the 37 school children on the bus were injured. The driver, Kristy Tufte, was fired.

8. Manalapan Pharmacist and Nine Others Arrested in Multi-State Drug Bust

A pharmacist at Texas Road Pharmacy in Manalapan was arrested for allegedly dispensing oxycodone pills illegally. His arrest was part of a multi-state drug sweep that resulted in the arrest of two other New Jersey residents and seven South Carolina residents.

In mid-January, Manalapan resident Jennifer Mahoney had additional charges brought against her by the Manalapan Police Department which included child pornography, child endangerment and aggravated sexual assault.

In mid-November a Manalapan man and Freehold woman were hit by a car on Route 9 North in the early morning hours and they were both seriously injured. The victims were crossing the road in front of the Bagel World Shopping Plaza.

A black bear decided to take a stroll through Manalapan and Englishtown in mid-July! Englishtown police officers followed the bear until it made it's way out of the Borough.
