Come celebrate Carnaval at the Library and learn about the samba from Dr. Philip Galinsky, a percussionist and ethnomusicologist specializing in Brazilian music. Dr. Galinsky founded Samba New York! in 2003 and is the group’s current director and principal percussionist.
Dancers and musicians from Samba New York! will perform authentic dances. Dr. Galinsky will discuss the background of the Brazilian Carnaval and the very important role that samba plays in the celebration.
