Help 'Stuff The Bus' with School Supplies in Manalapan

The event, organized by United Way of Monmouth County, will help area children go back to school with the supplies they need.

Get ready to "Stuff The Bus" at the Manalapan Target with brand new school supplies for area children in need.

The United Way of Monmouth County will be hosting the school supply drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 in the parking lot of Target on Route 9 in Manalapan. The purpose of the drive is to help alleviate the financial pressure heading back to school can place on parents and caretakers.

“Working directly with local schools, we have been able to identify those items needed most by our area children,” says Timothy Hearne, President and CEO of United Way of Monmouth County, in a press release.

“Providing educational supplies helps support a child’s ability to learn while removing some of the financial burden from parents, many of whom are struggling financially right now. Many of these children have been further impacted by the effects of Superstorm Sandy, so these donations are needed now more than ever,” he continued.

In addition to accepting donations of school supplies, the United Way is also seeking volunteers to help run the drive in Manalapan and the three corresponding drives across Monmouth County, which will become part of the Stuff the Bus drive.
