Pawsitively Animals Weekend at Library Headquarters a hit!

Thanks to all the wonderful presenters and authors who helped to make the Pawsitively Animals weekend at Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan a hit!

On Saturday, Sept, 21, Library Headquarters held three screenings for the Walker Art Center's Internet Cat Video Festival. This compilation of all those wonderful cat videos found on the Internet debuted at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota in August, and is now on an international tour. Library Headquarters hosted the only New Jersey screenings of the festival!

More than 250 cat enthusiasts turned up for the video festival on Sept. 21 -- some got into the spirit by getting their faces painted by Tamara Brown.

Then on Sunday, Sept. 22, another 300 animal lovers converged on the Library for the Pawsitively Animals Fair.

Among those at the fair: keynote speaker Kim Kavin and her rescue dog Little Boy Blue; the Monmouth County SPCA with adoptable dogs; the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit; various 4H chapters with their chickens, goats, rabbits and reptiles; Suzanne D'Ambrose with Standardbred horse Indy and mustang DeFazio; Michael Greenblatt with his Running Cat video, and authors Charley Kelley, Job Gibbs, Kim Levin and Matt Ziselman.

Also on Sunday, the Library announced the winners of the Library’s Cat Video contest. There to accept their award were Aberdeen residents Chris and Michele Devanny with son Evan, 9, and daughter Megan, 7. Their video “Purrcy Learns to Play the Piano” was one of the Monmouth County Library’s internet cat video contest winners, and was shown at the Internet Cat Video Festival at Library Headquarters in Manalapan on Sept. 21.
