Manalapan Obituary: George S. Floridia, 69

Floridia was a WWII aficionado.

George S. Floridia, 69, of Manalapan, died on Friday, December 21, 2012, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Somerset for 35 years, moving to Manalapan a year and a half ago.

For 30 years, George worked as a warehouseman with Monmouth Paper Company (Bunzl), North Brunswick, retiring in 1993.  George was loud and outspoken, but a loving generous man.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting; loved reading about hunting and was an outdoorsman. He was known as “Uncle Georgie.” He was a WWII aficionado and loved being with his cherished grandchildren and beloved dogs. George will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George was predeceased by his parents, George J. and Sara Caruso Floridia; and two brothers, Santoro and Dominick Floridia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Eileen Surich Floridia; a loving daughter, Alyssa Dorney and husband Daniel of Manalapan; a sister, Virginia Lamberson and husband Michael of Lake Ariel, PA; three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Gianna Diaz; and Macaela Dorney; and many adored nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 9-11AM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735, with a service at the funeral home.
